Civica Rx CEO, Martin VanTrieste discusses Civica’s mission to make essential generic medications accessible & affordable.
Martin was recently a key note speaker at the American Society of Consultant Pharmacists (ASCP) Annual Meeting and participated in a post-event podcast, where he shared information about Civica’s plans to ensure hospital patients are able to receive the medicines they need, when they need them. Listen here. They also asked him for tips on how to advance your career. From Martin:
- Be willing to take chances. This could include taking a position that is outside of your comfort zone, taking a position with an organization that you don’t know a lot about but you believe in the mission of the organization, or taking an exciting role that requires you to relocate. Taking chances will help you develop as a person and as a professional and may lead to additional career advancement opportunities.
- Network effectively. Being a good networker requires much more than having thousands of connections on LinkedIn. It requires building a network where you are providing people with advice, guidance and connections – more so than what they are doing for you. That way, should you need that network in the future, it will be there for you to lean on. Also, if you work hard and network well, when great positions become available people will remember you and recommend you.
- Work hard and do what you say you are going to do. In the end, nothing is more important than hard work, dedication and getting things done on time. Be accountable and live up to your commitments. Do what you say you’re going to do and if, for some reason, you can’t get it done when you expected, let people know why and work together towards a solution.
